It's a little more sophisticated than that.

My PC tool is just one potential handler for web+panda:// links.

All of the available HIT metadata is filled in the very moment the HIT is added, rather than only on accept (no more trying to remember which GID went to which HIT an hour or more after unsuccessfully trying to grab it). That's because the metadata is actually part of standard arguments in the request, as part of a protocol.

It also spins up Panda Crazy automatically if it isn't already running, per @ChrisTurk 's implied feature request. Lol.

In Firefox, you can set up multiple handlers for the web+panda:// protocol, so you can choose which tool to send it to.
When I click a web+panda:// link in Firefox, I get a context popup that asks whether I want to open it in my own custom catcher, or whether I want to open in Panda Crazy (I screenshotted this earlier, but I dunno how far back in today's thread).

The next step will be to add maybe a TurkerView handler for web+panda:// links. @Kadauchi already opted out of supporting the web+panda:// protocol, so MTS won't be implementing a handler. But for anyone who wants to implement it, whether it be for public or private tools, I've written several scripts that generate web+panda:// links. I've written a script that generates them on middle-click and passes the page where the HIT was found in a "contextURL" parameter, as well as a script that parses HIT exports here and on MTC and generates web+panda:// links full of juicy metadata.

 

You get GID, RID, and value with PC Helper, but you don't get Hit Name or Requester Name.

 

Now that I'm working, I decided to use Amazon MTURK just to use what i make for my amazon account whenever i wanna buy stuff from amazon than just using it for income for now until i get bored of this thing lol

 

Also, in the future, any exports I might share to the forum will have the "Accept" link replaced with a web+panda:// link.

One of the next jobs will be to create a tool that exports HITs natively with this format.
