Eh. I mean, Matt grew up with vastly more money I did, went to private schools and all that, but he got super good grades at Clemson, about the same as me. He had some scholarships, but was out of state and didn't qualify for as much assistance. He lived in a hangar of his after college for awhile to save money while he was restoring a plane and has a huge nest egg because of it. He got in more trouble than I ever did, but his grades were always perfect

I think a lot of it has to do withhow you're raised. I think it can go either way. His mom is a Grinch to me, but she was good about showing him the importance of taking school seriously (she was a teacher all her life just about). I didn't really have a choice to slack off if I wanted to have a different life, but I know a good deal of kids who grew up in the same scenario and had no respect for the fact we were in a hyper good public school and had a decent amount of oppurtunity. Shit, my own sister had a melt down andflamed out of her job. My dad really pressured us to be perfect growing up, and it made us both super anxious all the time.We would get grounded if we didn't make all A's and play a varisty sport and do something musical AND do something else on top of it. I was high strung and cried if I got a B. I know kids who had full rides and blew it a year into college too. My ex was one of those spoiled kids who blew it but then went back and got his shit together, but I had a friend who grew up more poor than me who partied so hard he lost all his scholarships and works minumum wage now. It's sad either way to see someone toss away a perfectly fine brain.
