It seems that eBay changed that. I also saw eBay help posts saying that buy it now disappears once the item reaches 50% of the buy it now price.

Both of those are definitely false for the item I want to buy.

You wouldn't but eBay doesn't show the highest bid a person has entered until they're outbid.
