I hear what you're saying, but I think you said at one point you wanted TV to replace TO, that checking TO wouldn't be necessary. For things like this, I'm saying TV is lacking just as I've mentioned before it was for historical information about a requester like name changes and previous issues.

And CT, I think you're too good of a person and don't think of requesters as trying to scam on purpose. Did this requester send a message saying they were looking to scam someone here? No. Have I been around mTurk on and off for long enough to know of and receive messages that basically said, exactly that? Yes. Many times. They used to reply with "fuck off" and all varieties of unprofessional responses when people would send messages about increasing the timer that implied or explicitly told you they knew what they were doing.

I think people who have only been around the last couple of years are very trusting of requesters being on the up and up, and thankfully, that trust hasn't been tarnished much. Whereas I am only trusting of academic requesters, because I remember when there were scam requesters constantly, I remember when TO barely existed and how much of a difference it made once it was in use. mTurk used to be a free-for-all which is why you stuck to certain requesters and avoided many of the others. And to be fair, some of this was a two-way scam, there were way more scam workers then too, which is why Amazon started controlling who could sign up and adding captchas and more quals. But there was no "daily thread" in those days, there were requester threads for the requesters/companies and that's it. So, yeah, I'm going to remain skeptical of something with a 1-minute timer. I understand that others will give requesters the benefit of the doubt more than I will, but my skepticism has served me well, so I'm sticking with it.

Cons:
The majority of the task is time-regulated, very tedious, and requires your full attention (watching strings of letters appear on the screen). Cannot really be completed any faster than 17 minutes. The pay should be higher for the time it takes.

Also, this goes back a ways too, but when I see that suggestion from a requester, it makes me think there's a department or university template that's been in use for like 8 years and no one has bothered to update it. You never, and I mean never, had to worry about grabbing a survey immediately. You could easily accept it after completing the actual survey and submitting it. You had time to check out basically everything about the survey before deciding if you wanted to do it.
