@ChrisTurk I'm not trying to convince you to change TV, I was joking about it yesterday and didn't intend to get into all this. I have said what I think about TV before. I think it's great, very useful, I just think it has some holes if I'm truly not supposed to use anything else. TO is an incredibly value resource to the Turk community. I didn't 1-bomb him off a "personal assumption from 2 years ago" whatever that means. I did the HIT and it expired on me because it was 1-minute long. I was sharing my experience so that others didn't either waste their time or suffer the same fate, which is what you're supposed to do.

But I do think you and others have been too dismissive of TO's usefulness to the community, currently and historically. It's never been perfect, not sure anyone claimed it was, but It does help to keep requesters more honest, as I can't tell you how many times sending the requester or their company the TO link has led to them issuing reversals, something that rarely happened before. IRB's have reviewed it regularly when contacted because they want their research to be ethical. The sheer number of times someone posts that something went wrong with a requester and that behavior was already captured in their TO is always impressive. But I use TV regularly and like it I think it serves a great purpose as well, think it's just more geared to providing information to maximize your time as a turker, which is excellent. And I don't think it has to be a competition. I think they can coexist just fine, which is why when I can, if I post an export, I prefer ones that include links to both sites.

And I'm not asking you to agree with my thoughts on this either, just sharing them. I don't think we are coming from the same place so we can't come to an agreement and that's fine.

Let me get it out of the way and say that, like usual, I agree with the vast majority of what you said.

I've always treated TO in the same regard as what you're wanting of Amazon. I don't need TO to help me find hits. I'm not disregarding a hit because TO says the pay sucks. I really don't care how long a hit takes to approve. However the one thing I do want is to know if I'm going to get rejected.

I do see where you're coming from though in that there's difficulty in maintaining the proper balance of not murdering a requester's rating over some small issue.

There's also the aspect of unfair rejections honestly being really rare. And I say that as someone who prides myself on working scared money.

 

I'm $30 past my weekly. Low standards are definitely the way to go here. Change your weekly goal every Friday so you never feel bad about yourself.
