ASKING PURELY ABOUT SURVEY QUESTION SET UP, NOT IDEOLOGICAL VIEWS

Kind of random here, but how do you guys interpret when a survey asks how you feel about 'traditional marriage'?

I ran into it last night in a survey that used the feeling thermometer scale (feel cold or warm towards things) and really had no idea how to answer. Usually the term is used as a round about way of saying you're against gay marriage, but it just seemed odd in this context. Especially when it also asked about gay marriage. If I support gay marriage I would have cold feelings about traditional marriage?

ASKING PURELY ABOUT SURVEY QUESTION SET UP, NOT IDEOLOGICAL VIEWS

 

I take it as do you feel warmly towards this "traditional" value and embrace things as the way they have been or do you feel cold towards what society has perceived as being standard and are more open to different values and a love is love way of thinking. That's just how I interpret it when I come across it.
