Not at all Turk related I seriously just have to vent this somewhere and because I have so many friends, acquaintances, etc. in rescue “publicly” isn’t a good idea because I’m already beating myself up.

Basically in case anyone missed it, I took in a stray pup a couple months ago. I already had three dogs. I did not want a fourth. My grandma watches 2/3 of them on a daily basis while I work, and insisted that we keep the dog (I had a good home lined up for him) and that she would always keep one dog over night on a rotating basis so I would still effectively only have three dogs.

Well, New Dog is a little spit fire and gets himself into trouble and starts little scuffs with the other dog. Grandma no longer likes or welcomes New Dog. Okay. Whatever. But now grandma is refusing to take ANY of the dogs. At all, ever, point blank. We’re also not talking now at all and I am not sure why??? I did not yell or blame her for not wanting to take the dogs I was just like okay because what else can I say, no you must continue to help me with my dogs?

Now I have four dogs and I hate it. My dogs are a huge part of my life, but now they are my only life. I can’t even walk them all at once now like I once could. It’s only been a week but literally I have zero time for myself now and it’s just a rotating “this dog did something, this dog needs something.”

Half of me is saying I absolutely cannot do this, this is insane and not what I agreed to, three dogs was already enough, and I need to put myself and the resident dogs first because no one is getting enough attention (myself included) when I’m spread so thin.

The other half of me feels terribly guilty because a.) I’m extremely attached to this dog already, b.) he was an abuse/neglect case and latched on to me and the rest of the world outside of me is still really scary for him and c.) I take getting a dog as a very serious lifelong commitment barring things like aggression or whatever. And d.), as much as I really don’t care what anyone thinks of me there is a part of me that just would feel really embarrassed especially because I’ve vehemently been hugely involved in rescue and such.

The whole thing seriously has me so depressed and worked up that I’ve been physically sick all day long going in between “omg he has to go I can’t do this” to “I love him and I will be so sad I need to make this work.”
