I was thinking about closing my Reddit account and this makes it easier. It really sucks that people like this just want to fuck you up for such trivial things. They don't know how much they are hurting the other party by doing this. I hope you get your account back because I know that this is yur only income and I feel the pain too.

 

Yeah, that's my bad. I use three separate usernames across the internet, and Amazon/Reddit happen to share it.

 

I just woke up... Did someone actually get control of your amazon account?

Using a similar or same username shouldn't be an issue unless the passwords are the same...

A good 90% of the site is absolute garbage (I'd stay away from, well, almost all of the default subs), but there are some genuinely informative subreddits out there, with some really knowledgeable and helpful people populating them. Thanks to them, I don't have to rely solely on turking for income and I'm overall saving more money than I was before. The money's too good to dismiss them outright.

That said, again, I would just get the information and get out. I'm subscribed to about twenty subreddits, and I only post in one or two. And that's once in a blue moon at that.

Now would be a good time to remind people of haveibeenpwned. Nothing's worse than realizing a site you haven't used in years was hacked.

I know that you have probably already done this, but I would think that post on r/amazon would be helpful to the amazon fraud people ... just thinkin' ... This is absolutely deplorable. Sorry!!!

 

Yep. They made an email account very similar to mine and got my amazon account completely switched over to their new email. My Amazon orders, prime membership, and my entire Mturk account was wiped. I've been in contact with Amazon about it.

If I'm going to file a police report later today, what would this be considered? I want to do a bit of research before I go.

 

I wouldn't even worry about that. Just give them all the details you can and they can sort it out for you.

 

I do recall I think hearing about Kadauchi (he is mostly on MTC) having a direct contact line to mturk or something like that. I would suggest seeing if he would be able to help you. He is a good guy anyways so I could see him wanting to help if he could.

 

It will be a combo of hacking and theft and really whatever they have the evidence to pursue, they have slightly different names depending on the specifics and the locale but the cops will know what to file it under. My ex ended up on the hook for a couple state and federal charges for the various things he did with my info he stole in addition to illegally accessing things so just gather up any relevant info and they will have your back.

 

I have to agree with @Laura about filing a police report. ALSO::::: you should probably contact all three of the major credit reporting agencies with a identity theft information so you can protect your credit rating.

I used to run credit reports for a client several years ago and these were the big three that we would see identity theft reports within credit reports that we would run.

 

this is exactly the stuff i would expect from reddit. that place needs to burn to the ground.

 

Reddit used to be a good place... 6 years ago.... it no longer is really.

i went on 4chan a few times until i saw some things i never want to see again. it was a mistake going there and i have boycotted it ever since.
