I set a weekly goal for what I need and work towards it.

quals may not be the real problem if you are looking something under $50 but you should definitely have an include list.

The hours you are gonna spend looking at your empty screen is also important as well as the hourly rate.

Here is the trick;
forget about other's PE/daily/goal. Make your own. Start with a daily $30. After reaching it, try to reach it with fewer hours. Meanwhile build your own include list. If you hear something, add it, if you read something, add it, if anyone mention something as a joke, add it so you can see the joke yourself. Then, you may increase your daily goal.

Really, nowadays, with the tools available with exceptional focus & a bit of luck you can make $10/hr on mturk during business hours so long as you submit everything you catch (which is difficult) with little or no real skills just survey slinging but its not going to be fun or exciting.

At some point, mental focus is going to drop & you just can't really go beyond that w/o purposeful training (try mindfulness, similar programs/ideas) or PEDs (caffeine being the most obvi choice, but I'm sure there are college kids turking on addy) or <insert w/e method people like HT / RA use>

I'd definitely break it into hourly + daily goal if you wanted to try to do it "seriously" (w/e that means to you), since the complexity of tools takes care of much of the need for you to learn that stuff yourself the extra focus/attention that affords workers can go towards those kinda things instead.

But, ofc, YMMV & that's just my opinion on a course of action/improvement if coding isn't in your wheelhouse.

 

Also, never take presents from strangers or enemies.

 

Call me crazy...but they asked about coding...what does coding have to do with it? Not to be rude, but I'm not understanding why it would matter whether you know coding or not...

Thanks for letting me know about your insight on how much HITs should be paid, I agree with you on most parts.
However, I can't agree on the national minimum wage because that depends on the country you live in. To illustrate, half of the participants I collected are from India and China, who have much lower minimum wage in comparison to the people living in the US. Secondly, although I'm aware that people make living out of MTurk, but it's different to a regular job. You aren't tied to set working hours and taking up a HIT is completely voluntary and you don't have to take it if it pays too little - plus playing 12 minutes of snake and listening to music athome and earning even a bit of money seems like not such a bad deal to me.

I agree that data quality can change depending on pay amount. I wish to pay at least .50 for 10 minute survey in the future.
