They make a lot of money from the antiquing crowd/friday-saturday tourists, while giving like 0 shits about the actual 14k people living in the area. They also get snippy about giving you the correct milk (listen bish, when I order a skim latte, I don't want full fat. I didn't pay 7 bucks to be told to deal with it)

Still wouldn't be shocked if they go out of business at some point. Even the other place I like is open from 6am to 6pm (german bakery) and they give me a giant mason jar full of iced tea and coffee refills and free bear claw samples. If they ever offered anything more complex (or espresso at all), I bet they would drive the other place out of business. We have another place that makes great lattes, except that the espresso machine is "broken" half the time and there are like 3 people who will just give us the wrong thing half the time if the competent people aren't there. I ordered Matt a coffee with a shot of espresso- easy order, yes? WRONG. Got the wrong thing.

This is why Starbucks does well here. Your options are either: wonky times and snippy staff, inconsistency, or just getting in and out with what you actually asked for.

Keeping them in business cause my other options suck lol.

Everyone keeps giving me giftcards too. I got like 4 different starbucks gift cards for my birthday. The only thing I love more than a sweet cream cold brew is a free sweet cream cold brew.

 

I attribute their success to the frapaccino. A bunch of people that didn't really espresso drinks all of sudden had something they liked. Then all the fat people finally had a reason to go to coffee shops for their high calorie diets.
