Bearnie went missing for 14 hours yesterday, I totally didn't have a meltdown or anything. Matt was pulling out the drawers from everything, trying to find him and nothing. Little fucker managed to find a space under the vanity (that was still not visible when you took the drawers out ofc) and a 20 year old scrunchi, where he didn't make a peep for the entire day until he wanted back out.

He finally decided he wanted my attention, after we had checked the garage and house and neighborhood all freaked out:


We've found him in the vents, in the box spring, in closed drawers, behind appliances, and ON THE CEILING FAN ONCE (he could not get back down). His little feral brain finds some really great hiding spots lol. You can tell the difference between Porgy, who was born in my bathroom, and little feral Bearn, cause Porgy just sprawls in the middle of the floor while giving approximately -1 shits about anything, while Bearnie hunkers down in the weirdest place he can find.

I mean, he's never actually left the house since that one incident, but I've thought about it lol.

Correction: he did jump out the window briefly in our last place, and then he promptly jumped back in, completely confused about where the hell he just was. He ran over yowling to me as if he had just been to mars. He has 0 interest running out doors, he will just stare, but I think he doesn't process windows as being the same. I think he's under the impression windows are just portals to new and interesting parts of his house he hasn't seen yet.

I think he wasn't sure if this new house was safe or not yet and was hunkered down till he ascertained a lack of monsters He's out causing trouble and opening all the cabinets/drawers he can now, confident he's the second toughest creature here.
