Yeah, Texas is good for stuff like that, a lot of non-distro breweries with growlers/crowlers only. I really love Jester King in Austin, but they actually just started making their way up here. And I know you mentioned you weren't big on the pumpkin beer you just had, but Pumpkinator from Saint Arnold in Houston is worth it. Hyped as hell though, so it's difficult to find. A pecan porter sounds awesome though, do those get distributed? I wonder how far, and if my Austin buddy can get me one.

My mind was blown to hear about bars being able to fill growlers wherever, like down there and in Nashville. Here, it's only legal to buy growlers from the actual brewery, and they can only fill their own that you buy from them.

Breweries here can't sell you their own bottles/cans, only growlers. It's really dumb. Also, they can't really sell you beer from the breweries itself, so they all have taprooms that serve food, to get around it. You can even go to Whole Foods and get growlers from their little taproom. They have good prices draft beer, even though everything else is so expensive. On the flip side, you can only sell to retailers through a distributor, so that is also dumb. It's why SKA pulled out of Texas. At least I have New Mexico 15 minutes away.

No El Paso breweries are canning/bottling. Three places I know of have their licence for it, but none have a facility to do it yet. Blazing Tree also does a peanut butter ale and cantaloupe IPA I love. THey have a talent for sweeter beers.
