Welp. Went from turking to pay off my credit card balance to turking to pay for my insurance renewal in March next year.
Coworker told me this morning that my insurance is going to pay her one of the following two options:
1. Take her van and give her $3900.
2. Give the van a salvaged title and give her $3400.

THE KICKER!? The repair shop is quoting in at $2700.

I asked her why they wouldn't pay out the $2700 since it would be saving them money and her answer is "well it's more than 70% of the value of the van so they want to total it out anyway."

Oh. And they're throwing a free rental in for her too even though she's been driving her car just fine since it happened. All that's messed up is the back passenger door.

This all sounds fishy to me and I'm so mad that our building doesn't have cameras and the enormous amount of lying she did when she talked to the insurance company. After the incident happened, she whipped into a parking spot when I took my phone out to take pictures. We also didn't call the police because "police don't show up to parking lot accidents". I'm fuming right now. She's back in her office laughing and smiling about the payout she's getting when she makes the decision. Even our coworkers are like, dude you contributed to the accident and now you're screwing Yarn Lady over.

And then she gives me sad face and says, 'but this is why the insurance rates are so high around here...taking huge payouts like this.'

I don't understand how a 20 year old van is even worth $3900. My mind is blown right now.
