If I start thinking that way, then I'll call him a sadist too...the amount of suffering she went through in that show was...eerily mesmerizing yet painful to watch. But I think that's why it stood out from other animes. True to the Manga, it is dark. The animation was deceptively innocent in its beauty, then as the story progresses, you delve deeper and deeper into that harsh world. It's good because the violence kind of takes you by surprise.

 

Reminds me of Eversion. And yeah, add sadist as well as lolicon. Sadism isn't too uncommon in anime/manga, though. Some people just enjoy making their characters suffer.
