actually that's just a huge coincidence. i've never even met her/her family (beyond her neglecting me horribly for a few months until my dad got full custody). it wasn't until my dad died which sent me on a whole existential crisis to "figure out who i am" or whatever (lol spoiler alert: i'm still nobody), and i did genealogy and ancestry and dna test crap. i traced my mom's line for shits and giggles and found that which was a huge coincidence.

i got into the avs because i grew up during the bill wirtz era of the hawks, where he blacked out literally half of the games on tv and it was pretty difficult to care about a team that you could only watch half the games of. my dad didn't even like hockey, he was all football and baseball, so i was kinda on my own to pick a team. somehow i found my way to sakic (and forsberg and roy) and followed them from there. which is funny because i was obviously unable to follow them on tv too, but... logic. i mean, as a kid, how can you not like sakic? i only ever watched hawks games to watch the other teams haha.

then when i could afford to, i got season tickets to the chicago wolves for awhile, and that explains my thrashers hate connection

it's too bad though because, retrospectively, i'd like to go back to the 90s and care about some of those hawks players. i only have 2 hawks jerseys and one is good ol' eddie the drunk eagle. but it also made me pay attention to the entire league instead of just one team, so it ended up okay.

I’m not too sure but I love that it does, and somehow I’m sure it’s accurate.

When the hawks won their ‘10 cup (I think) I remember Roenick breaking down and crying on live tv. I made fun of it at first because it’s Roenick, but I get it and was kinda sad/happy for him too.
