When my

When my first born was little, he stuck his hand on a hot burner while I was straining the pasta. This resulted in a trip to Texas Childrens Hospital. We waited, and waited, and........waited. I went to tell the receptionist that we were going to head to another hospital and she told me I could not leave. I didn't understand and told her I was most certainly leaving. She came around to take his hand from mine and I pulled back, which made him wobbly. Next thing, someone twist my arm back and slams me against the check in area. Ended up being off duty officer. I spent the next 6 hours explaining that my husband was in the living room "watching" him while I was cooking and I did not know he came around the corner when I drained the spaghetti. I don't even know how or why they finally believed me. There was no way to defend myself other than my word. Not only did he never touch the stove again, but every sibling he had, he shared with them from a young age just how he got the scar on his hand and basically "hot water burns baby".
