AWWW!!! this is my cutie and i, super busy ...

 

So here I am at my day job, and I'm finalizing my upcoming release schedule for the biggest product I own. This is non-trivial. I have to corral my developers, QA team, internal stakeholders, set up communications to our external customers, go through a huge big change management approval process, blah blah blah. Tedious, lots of work, really painful if anything changes, but okay, that's part of my job description, it's what I'm paid to do.

But wait! Yesterday I just got informed we have to add some information prompts to two different forms that users need to send in to us once they complete the electronic submission. Okay, so this must be really important information as it's now going to delay my release.

Nope. We don't use the information in this new paragraph. It's irrelevant to our engineers. Useless. So why must I add it, and delay my release to add it?

Because the Federal Regulators said we need that verbiage in those forms.

But...we...don't...use...that...information. It's literally meaningless.

Yeah, says business, but you gotta add it in because federal regulations! But...why did the regulatory commission tell us we have to add it in if it's useless to us? Shrugs all round. Nobody understands, and everyone's annoyed. Bang goes my release schedule, all thanks to a totally meaningless and apparently arbitrary new regulatory requirement.

Oh and by the way could you rush because it became effective October 1st, ok, thanks very much, bye-bye!

We've gone from one cat to the next. My vet missed a virus. I simply don't have time for the cold I have. bearnie does not like being dropper fed. Porgy slept between us, effecrively cuddle blocking us all night, while Bearnie slept on my other side, where I normally put my legs. He is drooling and upset. The only good news is that Porgy is doing quite a bit better today, so it seems like the steriods and antibiotics clear it up pretty fast.

I'm not even sure what day it is but I know that my friend lands here on Thursday night and I'm catering a party for a hoard on Friday...somewhere in the middle of nursing all my cats back to health and willing my nose to stop running.

There there. There there. Wanna run away for a 15 minute nap? That sounds great.

A pretest on MTurk showed that filling the survey takes in average less than 5 minutes. I nevertheless consider that filling it seriously will normally last 7-8 minutes.

So why do the pretest if you're going to ignore the results
