    It's an ornament?

    How am I supposed to put my hand up under the lampshade then?

    The scene is from the movie A Christmas Story. The he is Ralph's father who wins the lamp as a bowling trophy I believe.

    The comedy comes from the fact the he eventually displays the somewhat risque lamp in the front window of their iconic 1950ish suburban row house. The lamp by its general nature is somewhat risque to say the least even by those standards. I believe there are also scenes in the movie in which it causes a traffic jam in front of the house.

    I can easily imagine a traffic jam caused by this lamp. You know what this lamp reminds me of? A movie called Mannequin!

    LOL, wasn't that the Tom Hanks movie sans the whole fortune telling machine or box of chocolates... Thanks for reminding me that I need to get another coconut. I used the last one while cooking.

    And on that note... It's 5:34Am Central Time TurkerViewers and this is your first song of the day. I'd post a Hit instead but, there's nothing to share! So you get this instead.

    The Tom Hanks movie WITH the fortune telling machine was Big. The ones without the fortune telling machine are many, but the only one as cheesy as Mannequin would be Splash, however, not what I was referring to. The only Tom hanks movie I can think of besides Splash, that includes coconuts in a special way is Cast Away?

    Yearly statement that this movie really IS like my childhood in the '70s to an uncanny degree. We even had a coal furnace (but it was converted to gas but it had the damper and everything). Neighbors had a bunch of dogs (they never got in the house my dad would kill them), I grew up in a Midwest industrial city and we had big department stores downtown (Herpelscheimer's and Hudson's) with Santa...

    We'd put bread-bags on our feet, though, which they maybe didn't have in the '30s and '40s. But you'd get bundled up so you couldn't move. The dare ritual, bullies, stick your tongue to those galvanized fence posts (someone always got stuck each year).

    The house is even like the house I grew up in but it's bigger and nicer in the movie. We had the same kind of sink and stove, and no real cupboards just a couple sets of drawers and some curtains.

    Oh yeah my parents really would not let me get a BB gun but then I got to learn to shoot real guns at a very young age so it was not that bad.

    I also like Steve Austin, not Cowboys, and I had a Steve Austin 'action-figure' with the bionic arm and the eye you'd look through.

    I''m fricking old man. :emoji_snowman2::emoji_santa:

    I remember my dad swearing up a storm when he'd work on stuff, and my parents loved Christmas.

    And I freaked-out on the kid across the street, who was bigger than me, all the kids on the block would pick on me so I was real mean, my older sister, and that kid and his sister. One day I whooped the shit out of him and I guess I blacked out and was swearing, and I never got in trouble for it either. His mom used to babysit us before school and she was mad, but my dad said he had it coming and looking back he did.

    I like having all these options. I'm more the one that's moving slowly, and counter-clockwise.
