I'm still semi-disappointed that having 50k+ post doesn't give you the Turkerhub Masters title.

i've been sitting here trying to think of the first time i was sour over an adaptation and how it numbed me into feeling the way i do now, but i really think it comes back to the phantom menace. i made so many excuses for that damn movie, i talked myself into liking it. i started seeing things at a product of their time regarding technical and special effects, zeitgeists regarding culture and social commentary, adaptations for a new audience, reinvigorating an old audience, interpretations from a new perspective, whatever. i really wish it was a better slap in the face, but i really think it's to blame for me being all "whatever man" about adaptations, reboots, and sequels/prequels

I read it that way too.

Have you read/watched this yet? There's a book version that I have that's essentially a transcript of the entire interview that I like more because I'm too impatient to listen to people talk.

    David Hagmann [A2OZJB9LYMCMUC] Study on Decision Making(~ 20 minutes) - $0.10 | PANDA

    Unrated
    $2.01 / hour
    00:02:59 / completion time
    Pros:
There is a potential for a $1.50 for passing the comprehension questions + a possibility for additional $2 bonus based on your decisions.
    Cons:
I messed up on the comprehension questions so I didn't get any of the bonuses as a result this was underpaid for me but it probably won't be for most people.

Star Wars basically ended after the Hoth scene in Epire strikes back. That was the sum total of the magic of the entire thing, and they've been milking that exhausted cow for decades.
I blame merchandising. They make so much from the shirts and action figures they can just keep forcing people to be excited about it and keep going to see the movies.

Stwar wars will be what Westerns are today. Nobody cares a galoot about Gene Autrey. And soon, no one will care about Dark Sith or whatever that guy is.

Also, George Lucas was highly influenced by an earlier book of Joseph Campbell's when he was making Star Wars, he even invited the guy to watch the movie at his private ranch. It's called The Hero With A Thousand Faces. I have that one too, but it's a more more dense and academic style read than The Power of Myth.

"I read this book so that makes my movie high art."

Star Wars is about middling as a pulp Space Opera. Battlefield Earth is much, much better in every single way. Out of Golden Age scifi, Star Wars is about bottom third I'd say. I'm not even a nerd of the Big 3, some people are gaga over Hine Line, say, but at least I can see he's so much better than SW. It's so... thin and unrewarding.
