Yeah, that's more what it looks like. But I can't get to the motherboard without taking apart more of the computer than I want to. So I need a fan with that type off connection! The one he has right now has both. The three pin is just hanging out around there not plugged into anything.

 

There are normally a few fan inputs on the motherboard... usually...

I could tell you where they are if you can tell me the motherboard name or post a picture.

The fan only had a 3pin? If it has both you can do either or I believe but there should be a free fan input or w/e somewhere on there unless they are being used already.

Here are pics. One is the "unseen" side where all the cords are. The skinny black cord my finger is on is coming from the acting up fan. It's plugged into the top of that group of connections I'm holding. It's three pin is waving around there plugged into nothing.

The other two are the only two I can get of the mother board. No clue where those fans come back in and plug in to, which is why I just want to get a fan that will plug into that group of plugs I'm holding.
