I just caught a rejection as well.

 

Yeah yesterday was pretty slow. I'm generally on here 12 hrs a day and never made more than $70. I usually have 5-10 HITs searching in PC, most of my time is spent trying to catch surveys or whatever. When A9's were around I capped out everyday.

 

A9. I miss the photo ones. Deff not HWTF, but still super easy. And the grading versions of A9 for 5c you could map to a macro program and crush.

You have a two main options:

• Slag through seriously every survey you see, work for 8-12+ hrs
• Learn javascript and/or get lucky w/ a $20-50/hr batch that drops (way less consistent w/o masters)

The base floor for the average newbie on MTurk used to be like $10-20/day when I first started. Now w/ things like MTS & Forker/PC its probably closer to $30-35, but its no where near $100/day.

A newbie simply isn't going to make $100/day w/o quals because they don't know what they're doing. Someone who has 500,000 approved hits can do it because they've got years of experience weathering the shit times to know what to do when their favvie closed qual isn't up. Its not much different from an NBA player showing you how "easy" it is to dunk. You could watch them do it 500,000 times and be no closer to accomplishing the feat yourself.

Ignore it, use it as a benchmark for the upper limit you could hit and if you're not hitting it then look at yourself, your workflow, etc and find where you can improve.

Jon Brelig was with Scoutit where he was notorious for rejections and crappy pay. They always had lots and lots of batches and newbies would get suckered in and rejected or at the very least work for slave wages. Jon has a new gig and appears to be paying better but can a leopard change it's spots??? I have enough padding to absorb a bunch of rejections and can take a chance on him, but others may wish to avoid. Besides in worse case scenario if you do get a rejection on a survey it's just one reject, while a batch can cause mass rejections.

 

Counterpoint: The average for a newbie is actually lower right now for various other reasons.

I personally blame you for changing your avatar as mturk has all been going downhill since.

This is all great advice. What will javascript do for me? I'm not worried about making $100. I haven't managed to break $20 since November. I'm on here from the time I wake up until I go to sleep and using HF/PC and all that, cleared my blocklist and when qual hits drop I ham them but have had 0 luck so far.
