I made a mix of peanut butter m&ms and reesies pieces that I toted in my clear ziploc inside my clear, nfl stadium approved bag with my 3 bottles of sealed water (and oh yeah, one of them was hint of watermelon- OH YEAH, I DID THAT!). So basically, I'm a reeses rebel.

I have and had no issues getting my stuff sent over.
I had two doctors that didn't want to take me off of an antidepressant because they didn't believe it was causing some of the side effects I was having.
Third doctor I went to blanched when I told him what was going on an immediately took me off it and side effects went away.
Medical stuff you aren't sure about I would ALWAYS get a second opinion on regardless of whoever's feelings you hurt.

2nd Opinions are de rigeur for serious medical decisions and all major medical institutions offer some guidance on how to go about this normal and expected procedure.

I am not saying you have cancer, I'm providing an example of a major health organization's statement which carries more weight than some well-meaning and sometimes well-experienced Turkers.

Your insurance should have some provision and guidance for doing this, if you have insurance. Whether they pay for it or not, and many will give you grief because it's more money, YOU CAN ALWAYS GET AS MANY OPINIONS ARE YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR.

But your Ins should pay for at least 1 second opinion.

Source: I worked IT as head Net Engineer for a Regional-State health organization in the 1990s and I had access to ev-er-y-thing, and regularly interacted with Physicians, billing staff, etc. Some Physicians spend a good deal of their time offering second opinions. In many cases, it is *expected* to seek a 2nd opinion.

Cadiologists, Oncologists, Neurologists, they spend a big fraction of their time in case reviews and 2nd opinions, giving and reviewing the 2nds of others.

Find the information out there, it is extensive and much of it is good.

Its nice knowing if I'm ever actually given a terminal diagnosis someone out there truly will care.

I mean, if you already have the files, then you can just use those too, sure- but, it's likely that doctor will want to request your files in their entirety from the other doctor so they have EVERYTHING. They just have you sign a piece of paper and they will fax it and do it all for you usually.

Also, if a doc treats you WORSE from getting a second opinion, you should not be seeing that doc anymore cause s/he's a petty shit. A good doctor won't take it out on you. I saw the doctor who I questioned up until I moved out West, and she never treated me poorly because I got a second opinion (tho, I imagine it especially helped she was wrong and felt bad lol).
