not touching an amazon req inc mailbox with a 10ft pole
usually just doesn't work, either your qual is small enough to get personal emails, or large enough that they aren't going to bother to answer you
    this mostly

Bummer, I would have thought they would be happy to at least give a head up to folks showing initiative enough to inquire (after I read your post I mean, I never considered it before)

    Thank you for the responses

Eh, most of my "closed" quals I got through contact. Its less effective after a while / depending on the situation since requesters do get sick of being nagged (I got VRAPI through email, nowadays I'm pretty sure he tells folks to pound sand), but if you're a native English speaking American w/ a college education or the ability to sound like you have one then its fine to offer a value trade to the req IMO :dunno:

Write templates, split test them on requesters who don't respond, keep the ones that are effective. Its way easier if you can preview the work since you can show competency in it right from the get-go. Most quals are created because the requester either started out on the platform & got shit results or did their homework & knew they would if they didn't qual their work, so if you can prove you aren't going to submit garbage most couldn't care about the difference between you & Joe Schmoe who already has it, they just want the work done quickly & correctly. Adding competent bodies, in most cases, accomplishes both.

Some of it is timing + pure luck too though. Turkers quit, get lazy, find something better, so being lucky & msg'ing about something that maybe has been languishing can be a dumb luck way of getting a qual others have been turned down for lol (I got str this way when others who asked before/after me have said they got shot down).

Hopefully obvious but: none of this applies to 5s/VRAPI/yadda who have been nagged to death at this point.
