Do any of you experienced turkers have any advice on how to make mturk worth the time I put into it? I've heard about scripts and what not but I don't really understand much of it..

 

Sweet I have not caught a hit in over 30 minutes. Feels like it's going to be a slow morning for me anyway.

To start off with (using chrome, I'm not sure MTS is available for firefox), I'd recommend installing the tampermonkey and MTS extensions from the chrome webstore. Then install our own TurkerView script (TVJS). MTS is a great (almost) all-in-one package with most of the useful scripts bundled together in a friendly way for new turkers. MTS has a "hit finder" and "hit catcher" which will help you find and catch HITs better than you can do using just the mturk website. Turkerview is a HIT/Requester reviewing platform that allows you to identify GOOD work to do. After you get your feet wet with MTS you may want to use hitforker/panda crazy as the "finder" and "catcher" as they are more advanced than MTS if you NEED the extra features/flexibility.

How do I install the TurkerView script? Is that something I have to get off the webstore or off of greasyfork? Im honestly not even sure what that is I've just heard that you can get scripts off it?

Today is going to be one of those work days as well... people calling in acting like they know what they are talking about but then calling their desktop tower the router. When I asked if the router was plugged in oh ya everything is plugged in! Sir what's the name of your router.... him: Compaq. *facepalm*

 

go up to the tab that say Turkerview here and if you scroll down a bit you should see the button to install. you need to have Tampermonkey already installed if you are using Chrome. you get Tampermonkey in the Chrome Store. Tampermonkey is a browser extension

 

After you install tampermonkey (TVJS runs inside tampermonkey) go to https://turkerview.com/. At the bottom of the page on the right there is an "Install" button. Feel free to ask if you need more help.
