Ah..yeah a $10 HIT on a weekend is going to go instantly.

 

It's a combination really, some leaders obviously are not following the instructions, followers are not advancing instructions and continuing the same instruction for several turns.

Some examples:
I am being instructed to select three cards of the same color.

Being instructed to select two of the same shapes for a set.

Instructions such as 'move forward, turn right' to lead me into an empty field to then be told 'nevermind, turn around'...

To then be told to select one card and then move under instruction several times and then be told to move back and deselect a card that is right next to the requester.

I mean it is obvious to move toward a card telling me a color and shape helps, but phrases such as 'grab the two' when I am staring at three cards with two objects each. is just a waste, 'grab the card' when there are two cards within reach with no indication of what is needed to make a set.

It is sitting in my queue because I haven't gotten around to it yet but I intend to.

in retrospect, the qual doesn't really force you to prove you understand the instructions right? you can brute force it.

We are going to set up a practice "server" where new workers can play (either with other workers, or even pair with themselves) to get an idea of the game. I don't think the tutorials are sufficient yet in getting people used to the actual flow of the game and collaboration between players.

^^ Yeah. The point of the qual is more to get people used to the different interfaces, and moving around in the hex grid. It's really hard to simulate a collaborative experience in a tutorial.

 

I just did the qual hit, and to be 110% honest, I would return that hit any time I got assigned leader. That is a lot of work/thinking/planning/writing...just to be paid the same as someone who is following directions. Even if you made a base bonus for the leader across the games, on top of what the game score is, it would make it a little more palatable.

 

@cereal-bar Time is money and when I spend ~15 minutes waiting to get one set of cards and having to wait on someone else to learn is taking money out of my pocket.

Also great board last game I played. Both me and the follower were stuck on path at the edge of the board with no way to get around bushes, plants, light posts to get toward an open area that actually had cards.

 

so max bonus is at what, 14 pairs?

and the leader is forced to write/and analyze what 2-3 sentences at minimum to navigate a follower?

14 pairs at 2-3 sentences each is really oof for between 3-5$ lol

 

Yeah, we will try to get a solution where new players aren't paired with experienced players as much. That seems like a waste of your time.

Unfortunately the maps are randomly generated, so there will (rarely) be unfortunate boards like that one.

I appreciate your work toward resolving these issues. While I do enjoy some of the game pairings. I am sure we can both agree we're here for certain results. Mine being monetary and yours being usable and reliable data and those results are not met for either of us with poor workers.

 

i've had a few good games as Follower, but ive yet to do a good one as a leader makes me feel bad for my partner cause some of them are clearly veterans

 

@cereal-bar Would sharing some tips for being a leader publicly have an affect on your data collection. What I am trying to ask is, if I start posting tips here on what to do as a leader, would that be acceptable?
