yeah those were vending machine purchases. the only 2 things worth eating from the actual cafeteria were churros, and these breakfast pizza bagels that had this horrible (aka amazing) sausage gravy as the sauce.

we did have a poster that said "it's cool to eat pizza in school" and i think of that poster a lot. that was a good poster.

 

It was worth eating on chicken sandwich days, but usually I just went in with change I found in the couch cushion. Those vending machines probably aren't there anymore. Or if they are, they have "healthy" snacks now because apparently letting your children eat 1300 calorie honey buns with a soda to wash it down for lunch is bad.

 

I actually liked school cafeteria pizza so much, my aunt ordered a box every month from the cafeteria for the house. She didn't have to cook for me that way.

Not totally the same, but I miss this one place in my college's food court. For years after I graduated I would go back just to get their pasta.
