I caught a reject for completing a survey too quickly last week. I emailed the requester and got it worked out but I just realized that they didn't answer the question I'd asked about completion times. Maybe somebody in here knows . When they post an estimated completion is it the average time it takes to finish or do they post the median time?

 

I just realized today is the 13th and I definitely thought it was like the 6th.

I think 9 times out of 10 - those numbers are probably just pulled out of their bum and mean absolutely nothing.

Those times are so off it seems most of the time. You click it it says 9 minutes you go to the study it says 25 minutes but then you finish it in 5 0_o

actually, i was kidnapped by the taco truck driver and taken to Mexico, where i was forced to work online for pennies a day.

 

Neither IME. One academic told me at her lab they just pass a copy of the survey around to a few other professors who say "yea that looks like a 10 minute one" without even attempting to do it or taking more than 30s to look at it.

I honestly got the impression it was an actual paper copy of the survey too so.. YMMV, 9/10 the requester's estimate is godawful and from what I've been told Qualtrics' tracking is actually atrociously bad. There are a lot of reqs who rely on TV nowadays to tell them how long their survey actually takes

 

Man, I'm taking complete solace in that fact that this down time was not my fault. I just hope I can get that across clearly to the bunch of angry forumers when we get back!

You've got to edit the URL to make it work. That being said, it's not worth it afterward either. There's tons of pictures of various sizes and the survey looks like an utter mess. It was really hard to navigate. Not a good experience.
