Okay, looking like I have a laptop on the way out here, time for a new Turk dedicated machine. Needs to be portable so has to be a laptop and on a budget about $500 so I was hoping some of you might have some tips for me. I won’t ever use it for gaming or playing videos, it will be 90% for turking. What aspects do you think I should focus on as far as RAM, storage etc. and what are some brands that might make a good machine around that price that I could start with? Any and all tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Since you're not going to be using it for gaming, I would recommend Asus, and Acer.

I had bought a cheapo Acer from Walmart once, and it held up better than the expensive HP counter part.


Definately RAM, Storage, hard drive, and CPU.

Hello! Glad to see some familiar names from MTC.... thanks for taking us refugees in

 

Well, I just realized I have officially turned into my grandmothers.

Both who crocheted up a storm making things they had no use for as they already had their houses covered in crochet (cough, I might, cough, kinda, cough, have done that, too).

One grandma quilted up a storm, too. I may have to take that up to keep up the proud family tradition of crafty women who have no one to give things too.

(Though, I do have a quilt made by my grandma's aunts, who were about the same age as Laura Ingalls Wilder. The quilt is over 100 years old and made from flour sacks. That's kinda freaking cool that I have a quilt made by Prarie/Pioneer Women.)
