02/17 - Spiritual Sunday!

Doing my taxes and about to pull my hair out..anyone recommend any dedications besides computer, mouse, keyboard, utilities, paper and printer?

 

I work with raw chicken a lot and am afraid of contamination. I have one cutting board that is only for meat, nothing else ever gets cut on it. And it's wooden, so after I wash it and it dries, all bacteria left dies anyway, but still...I leave that bad boy in the sun to TOTALLY dry out a lot, lol (sun comes through my kitchen window where it dries).

My other cutting board lives on the counter and I cut everything else on that. It gets washed regularly, too. Also, wooden, so it can totally dry out and kill anything left clinging to it.

I live in a growing area. We grow allthethings here. Hell, I grow half I use in my own back yard! As soon as the farmer's markets start back up I'll buy a lot of my produce there (when I remember to get there, lol!) I do rinse that off in a colander to help reduce potential cross contamination from my own sink. Then scour the sink, lol.

Also, I wash the hell out of my hands. All. The. Time. Especially when cooking. If I touch ANYTHING that isn't the food, they get scrubbed again.

I'm not super paranoid about food poisoning (I probably really need to wash out the veggie bins) but I take certain steps. Grew up on a farm with raw stuff everywhere so we had to take certain steps there, and it just kind of held over even though I don't work with a lot of raw meat except for chicken. And ground sausage.

I have composite, plastic, bamboo, and wood for all the various purposes of my kitchen cause I'm crazy and also cause people tend to give me kitchen based gifts, so I just have a collection going. Glass cutting boards shall never enter my house, tho. Rumor has it they will explode in your hands, should you attempt to cross the entryway with one.

I'm just a wee bit more than reasonably careful because I feed a lot of people, I have allergies, and I like to not wreck my knives to hell. Speaking of, need to get my sharpening gremlin to visit my kitchen again!
