What is the best way to keep birds away from a patio, short of discharge shotguns in a residential area?

I'm thinking a laser defense grid might be the only option at this point. MUTHAFUCKERS SHIT EVERYWHERE

 

Have you tried putting up scarecrows?

they are scared of rubber snakes and will avoid them if you can set one where they will see it. It keeps them from nesting over my back door

Do you have bird feeders in a different part of the yard? I don't know if that would work, or just attract more... @Hummingbirdee what say you?

I have a garden, tree, and those Italian Cypresses in my yards they use for various reasons. I have a bird bath in the front yard, but for reason they don't shit all my front porch, just the back. I think that may be the reason so many live around here. Plus, there is a clearing behind my yard where some powerlines cross, so there are always birds around.

 

Apparently they dislike owls and hawks, too, but you have to move them every now and again.
