I mean, as stated above, I don't feed them crap or anything. They are pretty spoiled! Those boys eat a whole lot of wet food from scratch and a pretty nice dry food. I just could not afford 100 bucks a bag of dry food with 8 little mouths to feed as I'm already spending a couple hundred a month on them combined as it is and I put money aside for the inevitable next time one of my dumbasses breaks an ankle or something. Bearnie pulled in an 2400k vet bill in 3 days once, so the cats have a very nice set of foods as well. Really, 0 judgement from me, cause I'm always alright with people spending money on the furballs!

You cannot even look at a chicken liver without someone trying to tear you up in this house, tho. Even my super feral cats are now accustomed to a certain lifestyle and will refuse what he thinks is inferior food. I have two cats who live in my garage and they will now refuse cheap food because I made the mistake of giving them some of the grain free fancy stuff. I am now so screwed!

 

Health insurance here is like $500 a month so uhhhhh that would take your $25/hr down to $22ish? Depending on insurance rates in your state. I don't know how good $500/mo would buy you. That's also individual. Family plans are more than double that. GL!

 

My opinion is - If you're offered 25 an hour while still in college in the St Louis area. With paid time off - You take that job.

 

LPT: Do NOT get hit in the face with that, it hurts.

 

Also I'm assuming full-time, salaried, not in school, etc.

So I figured I'd chime in with the kids and sleep thing. My first daughter started sleeping through the night at two weeks, then started waking up at 1 again for a couple of weeks. No biggie though. Bottle of water and off to bed I go again. I got paid back though with my second daughter. She had colic for 6 months, I swear to God. Most days I would not trade it, somedays I look back fondly on the days that I did not have kids. Mine are teenagers though, and girls (gah!!!), so I'm at the finish line. It is so close but so far away.......

Thank you. It would be for my first position right out of college when I graduate and move there in May. The paid time off will be nice to visit my mom in Mexico.

 

You'd just have to buy your own plan, they likely nix'd w/e the normal company plan is to meet your salary demands. If it's a recruiter you can always say you expected coverage given its a FT salaried position (..I'm assuming it is) and see what they come back with. They get paid to put you into the job so worst case is they say no & you take what they offered you first time.

Even at 400/mo for your own insurance though you'd still be over 45k/yr income straight out of college? Idk what the job/degree is but that's better than Turking.

ETA: Politeness / length of previous discussions impact "taking the original offer" I'd imagine, I don't know the details of your particular conversations but most negotiations are understood to be a back/forth process to some degree & it's not "wrong" to ask.

I'd say go for it, but research insurance plans very carefully depending on your health and pre-existing conditions. I know there's a lot of fine print and copay and coinsurance lingo that can get tricky. Maybe your recruiter could even give you some advice since he/she likely referred others into similar types of situations.
