So I might be wrong, but I recall someone telling me once that I should donate blood as I have a type they need, that it was a rare-er type.

Now I'm going to email my doctor. I wanna know, and I want to know why I can see every single result for every pee test I took, but something important like my blood type...can't see it.

 

It's a particular test that's not done commonly. It's not expensive, but you don't need blood type unless you're receiving or donating blood, so I get why you wouldn't have access to it on your health portal through your doc's office.

If you have O- blood: please donate, often, because anybody can use O-.

Beat me to it. Blood type tests aren't on a typical cbc, but given she's had kids, it's likely they would have done an ABO in the past, so her blood type is likely somewhere in the midst of those medical files. Most likely.

Hey, that's what my dad said when I needed a transfusion and they asked if he could do it, as he was standing right there. Ah well, we don't have matching types anyway!

 

Snapped a picture because the river is both high and frozen and thought it looked pretty cool.

 

Can I ask why you feel that way? I won't go any further into it because it's your blood, like you said, and you can do what you want with it, but it doesn't typically hurt you at all to donate, and you get a cookie and some orange juice! Plus you help stock your local blood bank which directly contributes to saving lives.

I'll find out. Now that they let people like me donate (I have tattoos, didn't used to be able to donate).

I've had a couple of surgeries so they have my blood type down somewhere so they knew what to give me should I try and exsanguinate on the table!!

 

ABO! Now I know what to search 20 years of tests for...it HAS TO BE THERE DAMMIT.

 

As someone who almost died from blood loss, I appreciate those who donate!
