Seeing people born in the 90s makes me feel ancient!

 

Seeing people makes me feel cranky.

 

The WSHL covers a lot of areas that aren't really known for hockey. You get about 5 teams that could actually be junior A and get players from all the world, 10 that are probably junior AA level, about another 10 that are abysmal. Basically rich kids. Some of the Rhinos players go onto NCAA or go back home and play in the Euro leagues. Most the games I go to are like 8-1 beatdowns.

They used to do $1 Red's Apple Ales for 5 minutes after a PP goal. People would be getting crazy drunk if they didn't score and start throwing shit at that players, so they stopped. Now it's half off beers after a certain number of goals. They usually hit that in the third, so people can't load up early in the game.

I'm a little embarrassed I didn't make the Richie Parent connection.

semi related note. i play goalie in a local quad/para hockey league. it's a goddam blast. there is nothing better than local hockey beer leagues

100% agree, i played goal for funsies in the beeriest of the beer leagues/basically rat way back when. probably the most fun i've ever had.

There's only one ice rink and one roller hockey rink in town, so I have to be on a waiting list for the beer league. I was playing a few years ago, but stopped when I was going through my divorce. If someone would just build a damn rink, they could support like 10 teams. Also, ICE has commandeered the roller hockey rink to house refugees, so now everyone is down to one place.
