Update on Rev. He's back from the emergency room and has a brace on his neck. He got hit from the rear. The first time the guy behind him did not stop and it forced Rev's car into the car in front of him, which then spun him around and the car behind him smacked him again. Talk about a merry-go-round ride. NOT. He is pretty shaken up in a lot of pain and that's just today. Speaking from experience tomorrow is going to be much worse. He just got his new car two weeks ago and had only put all of two tanks of gas in it because he rides light rail back-and-forth to work every day. We don't know anything about the guy that hit him, we do know that the state patrol has all the information. They took down Rev's information and immediately sent him to the hospital. This is the beginning of a royal pain in the southbound end of a northbound donkey ...

 

I'm glad he wasn't seriously hurt. You should go to a doctor for physical therapy. I was rear ended at a light on a highway and its brutal cause you get the initial impact from behind them a second one in the opposite direction when you hit the stopped car in front of you and it all happens before you even realize. I only broke a finger somehow but I did two months of physical therapy three times a week and all kinds of treatment to heal my neck and back. The insurance company paid for it all and then some. Even if the hospital says there is nothing broken, you still need treatment for the ligaments, muscles, and other soft tissue which can cause problems later on.

 

oh goodness, i'm so sorry. it sounds really bad, i'm so grateful it wasn't worse. hopefully they gave him a ton of pain meds and he can rest easy and heal up. i know how much you depend on him, and i'm sure his first instinct is to pop up and help you out, but hopefully you can convince him to lay low and take care of himself.

trust me you are singing to the choir on that one. I was injured in an automobile accident May 3, 1991 and have been totally and egregiously disabled since then. I have always worked from home at my computer so I've not had to draw any type of disability, but I know all about going through years worth of physical therapy winning the battle and then losing it once again.

Currently I am unable to walk, I cannot lift my arms more than about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. I have terrible range of motion. I have a brand-new wheelchair that cost as much as a Cadillac. I have caregivers that come in each and every day to help take care of me and I keep on Turkin' just to keep my brain in the game. I know we don't make a whole lot here according to some sources, but I make enough to keep the student loan people happy and as long as the student loan people are happy and the law school loans get paid I'm a happy camper.

that is exactly what I'm doing is making him know that it's time to go slow. He is kicked back in my lift recliner chair in the living room which has a little bit of heat and a little bit of massage to it and he's watching whatever show he wants on the television. I'm back in my bedroom parked in my hospital bed sitting up talking to you. I just wish I was able to do more for him than I can. He already has all the pain meds that he can have because of injuries to his knees when he was active duty. So he has to make do with what he's got on that line.

Meanwhile I'm breaking out the icy hot, the lidocaine patches, Vicks vapor rub, and the Robitussin. Everybody knows the Vicks vapor rub helps everything LOL it's kinda like Robitussin it fixes everything; sprain an eyelash get some Robitussin, break a toenail get the Robitussin, got whiplash get the Robitussin and the Vicks. LOL

good! you have caregivers for a reason, just boss them around! as one myself, i'm fighting every urge to jump up and find you to take care of you both, haha. i'm sure you're both feeling helpless - you want to help him, he wants to help you, but the general rule is always that you can't take care of someone else unless you're 100% yourself. so keep yourself parked, keep him parked, and tell him to try to enjoy lazy time because i'm sure he'll be back on his feet soon enough and he'll wish for more lazy time.
