So zombie reference reminded me.

I serve on the Library Foundation Board that helps oversee and fund and support the 13 libraries in my county.

We have an outreach librarian who started a great program at the local juvenile detention center. It's really doing great things for some kids who have never had one single adult give a shit about them until they were locked up (very sad).

Anyway, we got a request for funding from them, a special one beyond what we normally help with.

We legit had a debate over if this was appropriate to give to them because some board members had no clue how brutal this series is (far more in the graphic novels than on tee vee!) I had to explain to them what it was about. It does actually have compelling story lines, not just graphic zombie killings.

We decided to fund it because the library already carries it and if the kids are in Juvie they've probably already seen a thing or two anyway. Plus, we want them to read. Plus plus we want them to know adults do give a shit about them and what they like and want and, well...

tldr; maybe we helped change a detained child's life by letting them read zombie fic while in juvie.

budget price? Biltmore tickets aren't cheap, but it is worth the visit. What kind of food you are looking for. God knows I can find you a hole in the wall or a ridiculous one that will serve you half a cherry tomato for $10

 

The comics are way better than the TV show from what I have heard. @Ana*

 

Budget will be around 4 grand. We like southern food, I want to try some Mediterranean food, comfort food is what we really like. No fancy smancy places LOL. We are going to try the Old Europe Pastries.

They're more brutal. Kiddo watched the show and did a compare and contrast with the comics. The comics made me cringe worstest.

But, hey, it's popular and we want kids to read. And they weren't asking for Fifty Shades of Gray (which the library also stocks but we would not fund for the juvenile center!)

I'm sure they'll be thrilled that a bunch of old people actually approved this request.

Like a lot of things, say Game of Thrones, they can't really be compared because while they use the same characters, the plot diverges at a certain point and may as well not be the same thing anymore.
