There is something to be said for traditional... I've put a lot of miles on hard pavement with my Doc Martens. My boots up until that point were whatever cheap things my mother could afford (no offense to her whatsoever). This is years ago but I just assumed combat boots would be the next step in wandering around. Yeah. No. I've got nothing against the heavy leather/wool sock version of being able to get around... in some version or another that is the basic form of travel. Me, no, I want that 1.21 gigawatts of power technology shoes and otherwise.

My buddy and I were joyrriding on a mountain and his car got stuck. We walked for miles down the mountain to get cell reception and he was complaining about his feet being wet. The truck arrived, picked us up, brought us to his car, and got stuck. *Again* we walked down the mountain and by this time he was genuinely upset about how his feet felt. A third, more powerful truck, came and got us.

I was standing in a ditch several inches deep in snow and water while we were smoking. My buddy asked me, "What the fuck kind of ninja shoes are you wearing?"

That's how I feel about Merrell.
