In your case, you only spent 3(!) seconds on the consent form, and therefore you were not properly briefed. ...I'm rural, tho. Besides my neighborhood, nothing but desert sand for miles and miles. And in an unincorporated town, to boot. We just have a terror for an HOA manager, and it's because our town is a bullshit shanty town with 2 nice neighborhoods, and they are a little crazy about making sure it stays nice...but like, clearly gotten too crazy. It's a good rental, tho. We wouldn't buy something here, but for the proximity and relative peace outside of crazy HOA regulations, it's quiet and off trails and close to Matt's job and twice as big as we could get up the mountain for the same price.

I live off a wind and sun farm and that's why they do all the spaceport stuff here, along with a lot of car testing. Oh yeah, also one of the few functional gold mines left. It's emptyyyy outside of that. We get coyotes and shit prowling thru our neighborhood.

 

I mean, we could live in the non HOA neighborhood and pay 600 bucks more a month for the same exact house....so....ya know, we just suck it up since we don't own it.

Your opinions aren't that special. It's more likely they had an actual issue with the survey.

 

That's just silly. I would've raged and put a flaming bag of poo on their doorstep.

 

Ok so that would make it worth it (I would still go into rage though). I also thought y'all owned instead of renting so that puts it way more into perspective. I have acerage, but everybody else's land backs right up against it. I would love to be right up against a state park or grasslands (or just open land like that).

I may have put my hat in the ring to be on the HOA board and I'm now the neighborhood watch Grinch. TAKING OVER FROM INSIDE, YEE HAW! I made friends with the crazy trashcan dude who is also on the HOA, and he's super nice to me now, except he now brings me the paper "in case I want it, " so I think I charmed him a bit more effectively than I had meant.

 

To be fair, it's a different requester... just that both are from Stanford, and in my experience, their IRB doesn't give a flying shit about workers. Let me dig up the IRB reply now...

 

Yes I would do the same thing. For some reason I thought y'all owned. Renting is a whole other ball game.
