The MIL plans on doing this for us when she gets a nice couple years old. Said she wants to see us with the money and know we are happy before ya'know, dying.

They're not rich by any means but they have it to give so they do. I get enough to cover a few bills and have a buck or two left over until the dog has to go to the vet or something breaks in the house. And both happen often!

 

I got 300 bucks and a nice hat from my grandpa when he died. I use the hat as a candy dish which is pretty neat, as fucking internet people turned fedoras into something only losers wear. It's a nice style hat, and that's a shame.

My mothers sentiments exactly. I would much rather work and there are tons of jobs that I could do available in the area but it would always eventually end the same way. It was not my life plan to be confined to house 24/7

 

Some of the food was fine, but honestly, I do not trust those dingalings not to like...marinate chicken and shrimp together or use the same knife on everything. It's a fondue night, too, and they want to dip said shrimps and scallops in the fondue so...I would die if I tried to partake. I politely declined days out, and it wasn't a big deal to me but everyone else is acting like I ruined the night by not baking all the bread/cakes they wanted. Honestly baffles me nobody ran it past me as an idea, given I usually cook a ton of the food for our dinners and then they went to Matt about it at work, cause apparently he's my master now!

I cook shellfish for other people sometimes, but I KNOW that everything else I prepped won't send me to the hospital and I have to be super careful. Based off the fact that I've recently slipped in flooded oil they didn't even realize was on the floor, had corn fritter batter dumped on me (and somehow my fucking purse. I have NO IDEA how fritter batter ended up across the room ON MY PURSE), and had my hand closed in a car door by these folks- I'm 90% sure this is HOW I DIE. Shellfish isn't a super rare allergy, either, you'd think they'd check with a group of 15-20.

Ah well. Not my damn problem. You're all adults, you don't need me to organize you all and supervise you burning the house down.

 

You can wear your fedora all you want as long as you wear it with an appropriately matching outfit in an appropriately classy location/event, imo. Don't give a shit about what trenchcoat wearing neckbeards wear and don't let that ruin things for you, either.
