I know! It's a nightmare. And my wrist doesn't twist since I crushed it so I just said to heck with it. I can do buttercream much much easier than royal icing. I HATE THAT STUFF. My ex mother-in-law is the one that got me started baking. She does cookies like this and says "oh it's not hard! you just blah blah blah" and wants me to try it while she walks me through it over the phone. These are some of hers

 

That is all that matters! My attempt at a Frozen themed cake, it looked way better in my imagination. But the kid loved it, so huh!

Thanks, but if I were being paid a decent wage to make it, the hourly would have equated to about .05 I think, I usually work with fondant, but I had to make sugar glass and strips, and ....way too much work.

 

But it looks so easy on uhh what's that one food network show with the cakes? I should know because my sister did nothing but watch foot network and ABC family but I still don't know.

I feel ya. Buttercream is the dream. Royal Icing was created to destroy us.

 

Agreed. However, she is crazy talented and is always willing to help me even now if I have a question about decorating a cake using a technique I've never done before. She makes it look effortless.

Cake Boss maybe? My favorite cake I have made is my spider, way easy to make him.

 

@Hummingbirdee this is one of hers. She taught me to do it. You actually pull the lever and it spits the gum paste coins out!!

 

I watch videos of this super talented lady make cookies like this and thought, "that doesn't seem so bad."

Mannnn, my kitchen looks like a frosting bomb went off! MY NORMAL HANDWRITING ISN'T EVEN THAT NICE!

Maybe I'll be able to conquer that in 10 years. I want to retreat to my little pastry making cave and whine about piping letters for awhile before I attempt that again!
