05/08 - Wild Wednesday!

I rent to the agencies because I truly believe in helping people who need help, and I have this asset I'm not technically using (though it is part of my retirement plan). So if I can use it to do good, and get close to market rent for it, why not?

Renting to the agencies and their clients is higher risk. I had to replace a wall heater thanks to one who had a methhead boyfriend who tinkered with the one there and cost me $1300 for a new one. But ok. I can deal.

I just hate things like this where it's CLEARLY a violation to move unauthorized people into a garage! I'm nice enough to help out, be nice enough to not take advantage of me and piss off my neighbors. Some of them already have an issue that I rent to the agencies. (There are several really nice and really expensive houses near my duplex, so I try and not piss those people off as they could turn me in for violations all the time if they get too mad at me.)

 

Honestly in my opinion it has nothing to do with anything but manners. So I don't care how much money someone makes or what they do or aything else. I've met some of the poorest yet classy and respectful humans beings and some of the worst people even though they had money. Otherwise I would probably be garbo.

The tenant who rents the back unit is placed through an agency. She basically lives there for free, and is the agency's client, and she knows the rules for her free place to live. If she has a son who needs help, she knows exactly what agency to refer him to for help. There are legal ways to do this.

The agency just called me and they are pissed, too. They're on their way out there right now to check it out.

The goal was to look pretty, tho I put a lot of effort into making them look nice, only for people I've never met to make fun of the "ugly cookies," without realizing I was in the room.

Spoiler: They really don't look bad!

OFC they tasted good, tho. I've never given someone something that tastes bad in my life. I would die first.

i just want to say i appreciate this gesture completely. my landlord does this on his own (not through an agency, he just rents out a house for people who are struggling through life for whatever reason) and that's how i was able to rent from him. dad and i ended up in a tough spot, landlord came through for us, dad died so i'm still in a tough spot, so i'm still renting from him. with pets+low income, i wouldn't be able to make it on my own without someone understanding that sometimes life is fucking difficult. i appreciate every second of it, raccoons in the attic and all. so, good on you for doing the same, and fuck people who ruin it for themselves.

 

The phrase, "I hope someone didn't pay for those." made me want to melt into the floor, no lie. I was MORTIFIED.

Felt like I was in middle school again or something.
