they were literally saying they pay shit so people will give better data because they were there on a voluntary basis. It was like a .50 cent survey for 30 to 45 minutes estimated.

 

That is a professionally worded way of saying "piss off" with an idea that is at least commonplace although twisted into an excuse for paying like ass.

The other email was something I'd write as an off the cuff forum post and expect to show up on arstechnica 3 years later

There is for sure research showing that *overpaying* research volunteers can lead to bad data, so I see where they are coming from about overpaying by way too much.

But that is vastly underpaid. Vastly. Not even close to skewing the data because of an overpayment.

 

"You better pass these fkn surgeons because they paid us a loooooooooot of money for your $6/hr input"

^That should be stickied at the top of every video.
