I kind of like it and will do something similar on the deck...instead of block for the seat part I'll use some wood

 

I knew a guy who used to sort through Goodwill bins and apparently people think those things are trash cans and not for donating because god damn, the stories he'd tell.

 

I think I'd take my chances w/ @EssArrBee 's recommendation first

There are plenty of every day $50 tier chairs on amazon that look 'okay' but you will need to check reviews etc. I can't help you there.

oh btw @ChrisTurk if you are fat those mesh chairs likely won't work for you. But if you are average sized they are surprisingly good and popular for a reason including the ikea markus.

At least with the markus you could go run into an ikea to sit in one before you paid for it but the rest is a bit harder.
