My wife had one when I first met her. It was a 2008 LS I think. The engine blew on her at like 50,000 miles but it was under warranty thank god. All cars have issues. I just wanted to mention my experience.

 

just make sure the ignition switch recall has been done.. personally I will never trust GM again after that debacle

That's been a thing for a while.

 

Lol my mother just DIDNT get the recall fixed and we are dead smack in the middle of the correct production years for needing it. So now that she waited so long and then died we have to drop like 150-300 to get it fixed instead of them doing it for free.

 

Other then that issue, Cobalts drive nice!

you should contact GM corporate about this. no reason you should have to pay out of pocket for it. you could likely enlist a local consumer rights lawyer to write a letter for you. GM got into a lot of shit over this and were required to track down all of those vehicles and ensure they were fixed.

We might end up needing to. Last time we went in (about a year ago) they said that since it was on the consumer to bring it into the shop and she never did that now it's on us to pay for the labor of it since we didn't bring it in when they wanted us to.

I'm not shocked. Thank you though! We were worried lightly that we couldn't do shit but pay for it.

 

i'm not sure where you are located, but if you are in MD/DC/VA i can recommend you to a law firm. however for anyone reading this, any consumer rights lawyer should be able to help. BUT i'd start with contacting GM corporate. it may be just that your local dealership sucks. for example i have had a bad experience with my local mazda dealership and mazda corporate was very interested to hear about it.

Yeah I'm all the way down in AL but thank you! We were planning on starting to look into making the cobalt our daily driver. Ganna definitely talk to the dealerships around and see what we can do now.
