07/07 - Silly Sunday!

$2.38 today. Bottom of the barrell. It was 99 degrees here in Mississippi all weekend.

 

this is a stray baby who i'm trying to get into the official TNR program at my vet, but in the meantime he's loving his food, water, flea and tick treatments, box with a bed, and belly rubs in my backyard. sweetest dang thing. declawed too, and clearly getting f'ed up by his peers. but happy boy once he discovered me, and doesn't seem to be getting into any new fights, so he might be sticking close to my house.

 

Hopefully tomorrow is more profitable.

Pretty sure by "not a bad hourly" he means "at least it pays above federal minimum wage."

 

You guys from expensive states just have a different perspective, 12 an hour is a bit above the the starting wage of a manual laborer/construction worker around here.

Well there's two more places added to list of places I'll never live.

 

That's a city of less than 200k in a state most people can't point out on a map vs. the one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Of course the numbers are way different. I don't live in Charlotte, though, and most of the state is pretty cheap. In this case it's not a matter of what state you're in so much as it being a fast growing city vs. South Dakota. Manual labor around here is like $9~11/hr, btw. Obviously more if you live in Charlotte, but higher cost of living because it's a real big boy city.

 

Fair point, although we are still somehow growing, fast enough to cause consternation among the old folks at least.

 

What doesn't cause consternation among the old folks anywhere?

 

The only way I could ever recommend visiting is to camp in the Black Hills if you're the outdoorsy type. Mt. Rushmore is not that impressive and Sturgis is policed to the point where it's no fun at all and mostly a tourist trap and If you ride your bike here there's a decent chance you'll die because we suck at driving but if you have it hauled we'll call you a meowwy.
