I tried that. For some reason, and I don't know what's interfering, my Apple Health was showing steps about 2-5K less/day than what I really took according to my Garmin, which I've verified several times is accurate.

I have a few things that read my steps or need full access, so I think they conflict. It's sad. I even created a full fitbit account to try but I don't want to "compete" with such inaccurate readings, lol. And I am too lazy to figure out what's competing with the accurate readings because whatever is reading my steps (like PokemonGo) I want reading them

 

Also, maybe when I get an apple watch and cut down all the middlemen it will work!!!
