Lordy. In this heat some a/cs quit working over the weekend. Tenants are calling hysterical and yelling that we can't get someone out today. Our vendors can get there tomorrow but people are threatening us.

Like, by law, we have a "reasonable" amount of time to respond, which is 72 hours for things like this. I know it sucks to be hot but...don't yell at me because the weather sucks!

(I just kinda yelled back at a tenant for being unreasonable with me and our a/c company.)

Even then...there isn't anything I can do for an extenuating circumstance like young kids or medical conditions. I know it sucks, I'm a parent, too, and I know what it's like to have medical conditions, but a/cs can stop at any time, power can go out, and tenants need to be able to figure something out for a day or so because in a heatwave, I for sure can never get someone out the same day. They're all swamped with work and some vendors are 4-5 days out.

We are lucky that the main company we use will work until 9pm to fit everyone in. The old company, and a few others we have worked with, are regularly 3-4 days out in heat waves or extreme cold.

Hell, one heatwave our office a/c quit, and no one could come out until the next day, so we had to close down and leave it was so hot in here. We lost business, but...what else were we supposed to do? Can't keep an employee here in 95 degree heat.

 

I will remove any further un-American ass posts like this.
