I hate it when I've gone out of my way to be overly polite to a jerkface requester, making sure I'm being suups profesh and re-writing shit to make sure I'm being clear, and they respond days later with some condescending bs and no attempt to be polite in return. Like Grinch I told you to have a great week and good luck with your study, and you can't be bothered to type a greeting or sign off? I'd almost prefer they be outright rude so I can be snarky back, but noooo gotta hide all this rage.

Just saw this. How wonderful he has a family he knows he can trust to go to and receive the support he needs for this incredibly courageous decision. I know he's struggling right now, but it is actually really healthy that he's seeking help and it's great he feels help is possible. As a parent, watching my kids go through issues like this is so difficult, so big hugs to you and your family. I am sending all the positive thoughts and wishes that he can get through this and feel better.

i appreciate the way you always normalize mental illness because it truly is normal to be "not normal"... we all have our stuff.

my family history is riddled with suicide, anxiety, depression, and addiction, so i guess i was predisposed. a traumatic infancy started me off on a cocktail of anxiety/depression/ptsd and health issues, further exacerbated throughout life with experiences and the overall hand i was dealt.

because of it, though, i was inspired to be a caregiver for people with health issues, terminal illnesses, and mental illnesses. i've had amazing people in my life that lost theirs, whether body or mind or both, to mental illness, and i gave my all to advocate for them until it was over, in whichever way it was over. there are a lot of negative aspects of my mental health, but, honestly, it's a blessing because it provided the tools necessary to advocate for people who can't or won't advocate for themselves.

"a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle" or whatever, so really, while we're normalizing mental health, i'd love to also normalize treating people like they're people. including this dang forum filled with petty arguments day after day after day. if someone is "crazy", annoying, slow, doesn't communicate well, or seems just a little off, offer some patience because you never know what their brain is telling them to do or why. (except for CT, we know he's just weird.) cut people some slack, look out for them, and check in on them. the country/world is beyond fucked right now and all that's left are the people who look out for other people.

edit: and if anyone ever needs anything at all - to talk about something or just to chat to get your mind off of it, my PMs are always open. i have a bad habit of walking away from my computer for hours and missing chats, but PMs (or slack, or fb, or texts, or whatsapp, or discord) go straight to my phone.
