I did some digging and the mixture of baby wipes is actually not far off what they use for LCD cleaners lol

Although it would be cheap to just have a LCD cleaner and keep it lean in the first place as the stuff is cheaper then baby wipes

Haha, I've been pretty cautious ever since I accidently pugged in an old AT power supply wrong and fried a computer back in the day

It's all about the timing, if you do it fast with a piece of cotton it will be safe (but still better to try in a part that wouldn't be seen). A great alternative would be the degreaser "ChanteClair" or the "Marseille Soap" but I looked for them here in the States without any luck :(

Hehehe, yes, better to be cautious and try in the hidden corners first or, like in your case, to make a bridge 4/5th green/brown and try the power supply with a fan.. (I burned a few mobo back in the days me too.. :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

I worked for a guy once that windexed every screen that came into the shop and thought ESD was largely a myth. Noped out of that place pretty quick lol

Windex won't actually ruin LCD screens 100% of the time.. (I know from my dad using it on his shit lol) but I don't suggest it either.

That's what gets people it happens just rarely enough that unless you're unlucky or have a really shit display it usually does no harm, but when it wrecks it wrecks.

Yeah.. and it doesn't actually even work as well as the standard LCD cleaner formula stuff that is cheap AF these days.

I bought a $10 bottle ~5 years ago and I haven't gone through all of it yet.

It would be closer to $4 or less for that if you made it yourself though.
