There's plenty of remakes that are good, but when you remake a movie that's already good just to remake it well, yeah, you can heck off with that.

B-but The Shining! Even though the movie is significantly different from the book and they cut out the Weeping Angel Hedges.

I should have said "true horror is not knowing which one is which" but I hit tab/space too quickly

 

I wish I could split the universal timeline into like 6-7 different versions and admin random people in each one just to see what happens

I totally prefer the second shining vs the first.

 

Speaking of The Shining.... I sure hope Dr. Sleep is not a terrible book adaptation. I'm not hopeful though.

 

The old It was never a good movie. It was good in like the first half, but It is a very hard book to adapt because you just can't get a good metaphysical tongue wrestling match into film.

I agree on this. The whole turtle aspect is extremely hard to capture. Also adapting a large scale novel like that into a movie automatically requires it to lose some of it's magic.
