Cause he chews on them/licks them and then dips them in things like cat litter, any dust he can find, anything in the sink he might find, etc etc etc. He literally will roll in cat litter and then go lay on the couch. He also face plants into food and doesn't clean himself, so I have to wipe him down like a baby when he's done!
